The exhibition

With Premières vues, the Domaine régional de Villarceaux is partnering with Frac Île-de-France to entrust the curation of an exhibition to those who bring it to life every day: the estate’s team. This choice affirms a simple conviction: the experience of a place is shaped not only by its history, architecture, or landscapes, but also by the hospitality offered by those who inhabit it, open it up, and share it.

The exhibition takes place in the reception hall, the threshold of the estate, a place of passage and encounters. It is here that the first impression is formed, that the relationship between the visitor and the estate begins to take shape. By installing these works from the collections of the Île-de-France Regional Contemporary Art Fund, we invite you to consider our reception area as a space of sensitivity and interpretation. The reception area thus becomes the first stage for the gaze.

This curatorial project stems from a keen understanding of the spaces, circulation patterns, the rhythms of the visit, and interactions with the public. It reflects a shared desire to offer, from the moment of entry, a tone, an openness, and a willingness to engage the gaze: the inaugural moment.

Premières vues is an exhibition about beginnings, inviting everyone to rediscover a place.
