L’exposition
Lucile Boutin was born in 1995 in Poitiers.
She graduated from École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Lyon in 2021.
Lucile Boutin’s charcoal, pastel and coloured pencil drawings are meticulous, painstaking compositions that oscillate between depictions of manual labour and dreamlike visions inspired by the surrealism of Konrad Klapheck or the burlesque perspective of Domenico Gnoli and Jacques Tati. They depict anonymous figures absorbed in repetitive tasks within interiors. Particular attention is paid to detail: networks of pipes, the glint of ceramic tiles, or vivid colours revealing intriguing microcosms, like portholes onto other realities. Her frontal compositions are inspired by brutalist and modern architecture, particularly that of the Parisian suburbs. Reinforced concrete, the emblem of the post-war boom years, fuels this aesthetic and political universe where figures with ghostly faces carry out tasks within interiors whilst seeming to evade them, suspended in a frozen, introspective moment
