Joshua Merchan Rodriguez graduated from the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 2024. He creates sculptures and installations that function as ecosystems. By interweaving historical narratives, political issues, scientific phenomena and our relationship with living things, he explores what he calls the ‘nodes’ that form between beings and materials when they come into contact with knowledge. Using organic materials and the remnants of consumer goods, his works present situations in which alternative ways of inhabiting and engaging with the world are invented.
