Voir en peinture offers a glimpse at the last ten years of pictorial creation, bringing together a number of French and Belgian artists.
Drawing, color, and light are its essential elements, but how can painting define itself with resepect to other mediums ? With these artists, we will attempt to explore all of the possible ‘spaces of painting’, taking into account the following specific aspects : the ‘signs of painting’ in the public space (Isabelle Arthuis), the transparence of support (Cécile Bart), the thickness of light (Anna Veronica Janssens), the subject and its representation, the materiality and the immateriality that presuppose the medium…
Investigations conducted by artists, certain of whom will be showing for the first time in Paris: Guillaume Millet, Xavier Noiret-Thomé, Ida Tursic and Wilfried Mille.
The presence of works by Martin Barré, Tal Coat, Philip Guston, Eugène Leroy and Aurélie Nemours, five artists who serve as veritable historical references, offers up a chance to explore the notion of transmission within certain concepts implied by the exhibition.
Variations, passages, dialogues between the works – beyond any formal classification – are what make up Voire en peinture.
