For more than thirty years, the Frac Île-de-France has been building up a major public collection. The catalogue of its collection – which will be published at the same time as the inauguration of its new reserves in Romainville in 2021 – marks a new stage in the life of the institution and its development.
This major publication presents all 1960 works (drawings, painting, photography, sculpture, installation, video, film, design, etc.) by 683 artists acquired since 1983.
In addition to a complete panorama of the works in the collection, 157 of them are the subject of a specific focus in the form of a double-page spread featuring the work and an unpublished text written by the artist about it, or a collected comment. Emphasizing the words of the artists is above all a pleasure for the reader to get closer to the singular universe of each artistic practice and the questions that are inherent to them.
The cover of the catalogue presents some of the statistical data of the collection in the form of graphs. The book is subdivided into several distinct parts, each of which relates aspects of the life of the collection in its own way.
