Dominique Ghesquière is the new artist-in-residency at the Parc culturel in Rentilly. Her project was selected unanimously by a jury comprising representatives of the Parc culturel and the frac île-de-france, and was implemented between January and June 2016. It includes a solo exhibition in the Trophy Room of the Parc culturel from March and a presentation of the artist’s on-site production at the end of the residency. Like her predecessors Isabelle Cornaro (2007), Charles Lopez (2009), Julien Dubuisson (2011), and Florentine & Alexandre Lamarche-Ovize (2014), Ghesquière benefits from the use of a studio and financial support for the realisation of her work.
Dominique Ghesquière was born in 1953 in Pensacola, Florida (USA). A graduate from the Ensba Lyon in 2001, she lives and works in Paris.
Her work has been shown in numerous solo exhibitions in France (Frac Bourgogne, Dijon, 2006; La BF15, Lyon, 2009 and 2011; La Station, Nice, 2010; 3bisf, Aix-en-Provence, 2012; Centre international d’art et du paysage – Île de Vassivière, 2013) and abroad (Aspex Gallery, Portsmouth, UK, 2011; Mülheim an der Ruhr, Germany, 2012).
One of her pieces was included in Un été dans la Sierra, the latest exhibition at Rentilly Castle.
Her work can be found in major private and public collections in France and abroad, including the Frac Bourgogne, Mudam in Luxembourg, and the Frac Limousin, which has acquired Ombres électriques. Ghesquière was recently granted support by the Fondation nationale des arts graphiques et plastiques.
