The history of the Fonds régional d’art contemporain d’Ile-de-France is above all that of the priveledged relationship shared with those artists who have accompanied the evolution of its collection, dating back to the first acquistions in 1983.
Thus, for the 20th anniversary of the Frac, twenty artists represented by the collection will be chosen to select and present a work of their choice.
This moment of exchanges will be the occasion to better understand their creations, to define their current preoccupations and to investigate the evolution of their body of work.
Although these twenty contemporary paths lead in several different directions, they eventually converge to tell the same story of our relationship with the world.
Beyond the confrontations between the works themselves, the same theme imposes itself across the entire exhibition, questioning the very idea of what a ‘collection’ means today : how to recognize, in the evolution of art over the last twenty years, the new interrogations.
